Chirat - "Cornichons" Pickles

The fine pickles, inlaid in mild vinegar, go well with raclette and fondue and are also very popular as a snack on cold platters or in sandwiches. Only the most crunchy ones make it into the glass jar!

The history of Chirat began 160 years ago when on July 1, 1859 the then 21-year-old Charles Chirat together with François Gardy and Jacques Gilbert under the name Gardy, Chirat et Cie. founded a grocery company in Geneva at Place du Molard. The Chirat company continued to develop its in-depth knowledge of food preservation and in 1950 introduced the pasteurization process in Switzerland. Thus, the pickled vegetables (such as cucumber, onions, corn and mushrooms) not only kept longer, but also retained their typical crunchiness.
