Swiss Christmas Cookies "Weihnachtsmischung"
A Swiss tradition at Christmas that includes "Chräbeli", "Mailänderli", "Brunsli" and "Zimtsterne"
Christmas cookies have always been something special during the season. There are several explanations why we bake cookies at Christmas time. One theory says that the tradition has its origins in the Middle Ages: At that time, elaborate baked goods with precious, exotic spices were made in the monasteries for the birth of Christ, which were distributed to the poor at Christmas and New Year.
