Agriloro - Sottobosco "The Historian" D.O.C. 2017
Grape variety: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Gamaret
Provenance: Hilly areas of the Mendrisiotto region
Color: Intense ruby red with violet reflections
Bouquet: Intense and elegant, with a night of black berry fruit. Excellent harmony of the vines with a slight dominance of Cabernet Sauvignon
Taste: Harmonious, balanced and elegant. Tannins relatively soft and well present supported by a nice acidity
Alcoholic strength: 13 Vol. %
Aging: Over 10 years
Vinification: The vines are harvested and vinified separately in steel and oak vats with maceration for up to 30 days. Malolactic fermentation and 20 months of ageing take place in French oak barriques, 35% of which are new and the remainder in second and third passage
Serving temperature: It is advisable to serve at 18° C
Recommendations: Important first courses, red meats, game and cheeses
The estate, mentioned in scripts from the 1800s, give account of an important vinery in the region, was brought back to its original utilization in 1981. Following the acquisition the re-planting of the grapes started, at first in the traditional method of the region. Soon the passion of the owner, Mr. Meinrad C. Perler, for experimentation and innovation set foot in the "Tenimento dellOr” winery. 11 hectares of vines on a hill in Arzo, canton of Ticino, which is perfectly exposed to the sun.
